Comparison
Ciroexam vs Oliver's Learning for the CIRE Exam
Oliver's Learning has prepared Canadian securities candidates since the IIROC era and updated their materials for the CIRO Proficiency Model. Ciroexam was built in 2026 specifically for the new model. Below is the direct comparison on cost, question bank size, mock-exam structure, and where Oliver's still earns a seat at the table.
Where Oliver's Learning is genuinely stronger
Oliver's audio library is genuinely useful for candidates who study during long commutes. We don't ship audio. If headphone time is your study window, factor it in.
Oliver's also runs live tutoring sessions in some packages. Ciroexam's tutor is AI-only with a daily fair-use allowance. For a candidate who has tried self-study and needs a human to explain a specific concept differently, that human time has a real value.
FAQ
Why is Ciroexam cheaper?
Software cost structure plus a single subscription that covers all 9 CIRO Proficiency Model exams instead of per-exam packages. If you need only the CIRE for one year, our $249 annual is close to Oliver's mid-tier package on price. If you need the CIRE plus the Retail Securities exam plus one role-specific exam, the math swings firmly toward us.
Does Oliver's Learning have any official CIRO affiliation?
No. Oliver's is an independent prep provider, like Ciroexam. The official CIRO Proficiency Model exam administrator is Fitch Learning. Neither Oliver's nor Ciroexam writes the official exam.
Can I use Oliver's audio with your platform?
Yes. Oliver's audio lessons + Ciroexam practice bank + AI tutor is a complete study system that costs less than most single-provider packages. Take our free 25-question mock exam to identify weak elements, then drill those with our bank while playing Oliver's audio for narrative depth.
Will I pass with just one of these providers?
Most candidates pass with one. The exception is candidates who need narrative explanation (audio or video) plus high-volume drilling. For that profile, two providers is more efficient than buying a single all-inclusive package at twice the price.
What about Oliver's pass-rate claims?
Oliver's publishes pass-rate marketing numbers. Ciroexam does not publish a comparable headline number because we are new (launched 2026) and want enough sample before publishing one. We publish individual calibrated pass-probability scores instead. Candidates at 80+ readiness with a passing Mock A or Mock B historically pass on the first attempt.
Try the free mock exam before you commit to either.
25 questions, 25 minutes, real outcome-by-outcome score. No card. Tells you where you actually stand against the CIRE blueprint, regardless of which course you end up using.
