Was the CSC retired? Can I still write it?

CIRO retired the CSC for new candidates on January 1, 2026. The CIRE (Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam) is the replacement entry credential. Candidates who enrolled before that date can complete the CSC under CSI's transition policy.

Is the CSC the same as CIRO certification?

No. The CSC was the course; CIRO is the regulator. Passing the CSC (now the CIRE) qualifies you to be registered with a CIRO dealer member firm.

How long does CSC access last after I enrol?

CSI gives each enrolment a course-window expiry date, shown in your account. The standard window is one year per volume. Confirm your exact expiry inside your CSI account after logging in.

What is Canadian Securities Course (CSC): delivered by CSI?

The CSC was Canada's entry securities credential until January 1, 2026, when CIRO retired it and replaced it with the CIRE. Existing CSC students still log in through csi.ca to finish their course; new candidates write the CIRE instead.

If you're a new candidate (no prior CSC enrolment), CIRO no longer admits CSC sign-ups, the CIRE is the replacement entry exam as of January 1, 2026.
